What you get

A standard cluster, ready for your tools.

  • Node pools

    Each pool has 1 to 32 nodes. Each node has 1 to 32 vCPU, 2 to 128 GB of memory and 25 to 500 GB of disk.

  • A free control plane

    The part of Kubernetes that runs the cluster is looked after for you, and it is not on your bill.

  • Use your own tools

    Download a kubeconfig and use kubectl, Helm or anything else that talks to Kubernetes.

  • Resize later

    Change your node pools from the console. Changes roll out over a few minutes.

  • Two versions to choose from

    1.34 and 1.33. You choose the version, and patch updates within it are handled for you.

  • One bill

    The cluster sits in the same project as your other services and is billed with them, by the second.

How it works

Get a cluster running.

  1. Create it

    Pick a version and add one or more node pools with the size you need.

  2. Wait for the nodes

    Nodes take a few minutes to come up. The console shows when they are ready.

  3. Download the kubeconfig

    Point kubectl at it and start deploying.

The kubeconfig gives full admin access to the cluster. Keep it like a password.

Pricing

Pay for the nodes. Not the control plane.

Each worker node is billed at the same vCPU, memory and disk rates as everything else. The control plane is free.

Common questions

Do I need Kubernetes?
Often not. If you only want to run containers, Containers do it with no cluster to manage. Use Kubernetes when you already have manifests or charts, or need something only Kubernetes does.
Who can use the cluster?
Anyone with the kubeconfig file has full admin access. Share it only with people who should have that.
Can I change node sizes later?
Yes. Update the node pools from the console and the change rolls out over a few minutes.
Is it ready for production?
Kubernetes is in beta. It works, but features and limits may change.
